Here we go!

Happy Independence Day Everyone!

Here at our cottage I've moved the wicker furniture outside for the summer.

The front porch!

We get quite a bit of moisture here in the PNW so I don't do curtains, rugs, etc. And I don't have lighting, either, because of mosquitoes in the evenings. Someday I hope to have a screened porch.

I am loving all the blooms in the July garden.

I'm pretty excited to get started on our new flooring projects.

Last weekend, hubby removed the "lip" of the stairs. They were shaped for carpet and needed to be refigured for the hardwood.

The bottom step face was too thick and damaged so hubby removed it and discovered piles of sheet rock scraps hiding in that space!

We've run into that over the years when running wires through the walls. I guess they just dumped all the scraps behind the sheet rock during installation. We ended up with two huge bags of pieces!

I got the stair skirt sanded and primed.

And here is what I've hauled out of the office so far.

  1. Hi Brenda!

Oh my goodness- your porch and deck and garden as just SO gorgeous!

I love your wicker furniture (I can't have any because our rotten cats claw wicker to death :( ). . . and that little bottle hanging with a flower is a sweet idea. I love little details like that!

Looks like the stairs and office are coming along- good for you!

I'm hoping to get my husband to tackle some major closet stuff in my to-be studio this weekend- all the shelving and clothes pole needs to be removed and relocated . . . but once that's finally done I can start the prep work for painting!

    Have a lovely Friday! :)

  2. Hi Barbara! Just popping over from Susan's blog after reading your happy news. Congratulations on your beautiful, new grandson!! So sweet!
You have really been working hard at home, too! ♡

  3. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment about your time living in the North End. Funny, I'd love to escape the Boise heat and live in your neck of the woods, but my grown children live here, and of course we can't leave them! You have a lovely garden. We're in the middle of a remodel, too. Best of luck to you with yours.
